The Rational – I have chosen to create a twelve page-colour brochure giving information about the dangers of identity fraud because I feel like it's the best choice to help get the information across to the target audience because it will have a visual aid so that the audience get a better understanding of the information that I'm trying to get across. Identity fraud is a growing problem in the UK with reported cases at an all time high. The internet is becoming the most common setting for individuals to be affected by identity theft. Their is an alarming increase in young people being affected between the ages of 16-21 just in the last twelve months. (the increase is up by 34%). Males are 1.7 times more likely to be victims of identity fraud also 9 out of 10 fraudulent bank applications happened online in 2016.
PROTECT//ID is a publicly funded organisation and their goal is to raise awareness of identity fraud and theft in the UK. Out of all the types of fraud that there is in the UK Identity Fraud is the most common (more so in 2016 than 2014), the second most common form of fraud in the UK is Monetary Fraud (where people take money out of your accounts and keep it as their own). The next most common form of fraud is Application Fraud. This type of fraud is when an account is opened using fake or stolen documents in a persons name, then they use this account to withdraw cash or get credit.
Primary Research
Internet use is making identity theft easier because people's personal information is being kept online more so it is easier to take advantage of.

This tv advert features a woman talking to a customer about their social security number in a normal way where the person on the other end wouldn't be able to tell if they were getting scammed.
It's short and quick to the point too to retain the audiences attention for the full 30 seconds, because a lot of adults have to deal with identity fraud so this advert would be very appealing to them. At the time that I took the screen shot the video had 85,000 views, 458 likes and 48 dislikes.
This second tv advert features a man talking about the things you shouldn't give out to anyone while another man is standing behind him telling the audience to not do the things the man in front is saying.
Again i'ts short and straight to the point so it keeps the audience interested through the 30 seconds. At the time of taking the screenshot the video had 62,800 views, 215 likes and 16 dislikes.
