University Visit
Jack and Harry started off by mentioning which type of journalism they both study (Jack working for LADbible and Harry working freelance), they then both talked about how they got into their respective journalism courses. After this they mentioned the difficulties about working for both, Harry said it’s hard to stay motivated while having no boss, but, the things he strives for is seeing his name on the bottom of a website and getting full recognition for his work. Jack also mentioned the different changes that have been made to LADbible over the past few years, with them employing more women writers and although these women writers have endured horribly sexist comments they continue to work there to try and make the environment a better work place.
Harry also mentioned the differences in writing about football and his other interests in both freelance and his little time working for a company. After this several questions got asked to both Harry and Jack about the different kind of things they've been asked to do for work and how long it normally takes them to get a piece done in time (if the deadline is tight it normally has to be that day, other times it can be few weeks but only if it's a big project piece). Another question was "How does pay get decided?" Their answer was it depends on what work it is (freelance or company-based) For freelance works it depends on how many words is needed then a price is decided for how much per word and it goes from there, with company based it's wholly decided upon by the actual company.
