The Emoji Movie

The Emoji Movie was released on July 28th, 2017 it grossed over $217 million worldwide however it was panned by critics. It's also award winning, at the 38th Golden Raspberry Awards it won in four categories: Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst screen Combo and Worst screenplay. With these awards it has become the first animated film to receive both nominations and wins in those categories.

The emoji movie first come about when the director wanted to take a new concept of animated movies, this was modelled from Tony Leondis' love of Toy Story. After thinking to himself "what is the new toy out there that hasn't been explored?" While thinking of this idea Leondis wanted to originally do a movie where emojis were in the real world but was convinced by his producer that a movie about emojis living inside a phone was a better idea.

While many people hated the movie for being "unfunny, and a waste of time". Several outlets for media and movies, including the BBC News called The Emoji Movie one of the worst movies of 2017. Another reviewer (David Ehrlich from IndieWire) claimed that "Make no mistake, The Emoji Movie is very, very, very bad... but real life is just too hard to compete with right now".

As you can see from the below screenshots many people have heard of the first Emoji Movie so it will be likely that they will be aware of a sequel coming out in the future.
